When you focus your energy on solving the challenge that’s ahead of you, then you will constantly grow. 

Like going to the gym regularly builds up your physical muscles, challenging your mind regularly builds up your mental muscle. 

One of the best ways to build our minds is by reading books. However, most of us stop reading after graduation. We stop seeking new knowledge, rather preferring to stick with what we have. This is an example of a fixed mindset. When you stop challenging yourself, you stop developing yourself.

So start training your mind to make it your empire in the years to come.

It’s no wonder to see so many people searching for this question in Google.

Despite knowing that failures are an important part of personal development, most of us fear to fail. After all, it results in defeat. It results in humiliation. Most importantly, it results in taking back a step in our life.

Even after practicing personal development for over a year now, I still hesitate to fail at times. After working so hard to achieve something, it feels terrible to have to start all again. However, I also realize that when I look back at my past, later on, I would have much preferred to have failed many times. 

Thomas Edison failed 1000 times before finding the solution. Jack Ma failed at least 30 times. Steve Jobs was fired from his own company. Elon Musk’s rocket failed 3 times, barely leaving him with any money for the next attempt. 

I have not known a single successful person who has not failed in their life. If you don’t fail in your life, then you will fail your life someday. You have a finite number of days in this world. So why be afraid of trying? You might feel bad about failing at that moment, but you won’t regret not trying when you look back at your life at your deathbed.

Every time I feel down, that’s the quote I read to bring myself up. And it has worked wonderfully. I am able to achieve the same thing in four days that would usually take a week. 

When you decide what you want to do, it’s crucial that you do it diligently. Create a daily routine that actually sticks. Take timely breaks to not to divert yourself but to rest from your work. 

One of the most popular techniques (which I am also using) is the Pomodoro Technique. You work for 25 minutes, then take a break of 5 minutes. Repeat the process several times. If you get tired, then take a longer break. But once again, don’t divert yourself so much that you completely forget about your work.

With the Pomodoro technique, you would be able to work a lot of hours and achieve immensely. 

In the first few days, you might not even realize the personal growth you are having – it’s so minimal. But once you get in the zone, you wouldn’t want to get out of it. You will benefit from the law of compound effect


4. How to deal with a bad day?

When was the last time you had a day which you can call “good”? Can’t remember? You’re not alone!

There used to be a time when I didn’t seem to get anything right. Frustrations, stress, emotional swing. The worst part was that I did not even bother dealing with them properly.

Everyone has a bad day, it’s not only you. But not everyone reflects on it.

If you can learn from your bad days, then you will do great with your life. Instead of panicking and showing anger for having a bad day, try to evaluate the situation. I understand that it seems impossible to even think about “evaluation” when you are having a bad day. But that’s where the power of meditation and exercise kick in.

If they don’t work, then it’s okay. There are tons of other stuff that you can engage in. Listen to music, eat something you love (not emotional eating though), unplug, and so on. Find what works for you and stick with it.

After composing yourself, start asking questions to yourself. Why am I having such a bad day? Why am I worrying so much? Would I be worrying about this two months from now? What can I do to make my day better?

When you answer to yourself, you feel good, don’t you? Slowly, things seem to be normal. You are able to come back where you were earlier. 

After composing yourself, learn from your day. Promise yourself that you won’t make the same mistake again.

Any time you feel that your day isn’t going well, use this technique. It has helped me greatly, and I’m sure you will feel the same way.
